چکیده

A collision-type multiple access system is investigated in which every user transmits symbols from a common N -ary frequencyshift-keyed signal alphabet. We present a series of information-theoretic properties of the associated mathematical channel model. In the absence of noise, we calculate a large system approximation to the sum capacity, which is used to show that, in the limit, the combining of the multipleaccessing and coding results in no loss in capacity, compared to a fixed-allocation scheme. The presence of thermal noise or undetected users influences the capacity. Bounds on the capacity of the channel in the presence of thermal noise are calculated, as well as the capacity of the system in the presence of interfering users. Finally, a new iterative multiuser detector, the Consensus decoder, is described and simulation performance results are shown. It is demonstrated that this decoder can operate to within approximately 70% of the channel capacity.

Full duplex random access for multi-user OFDMA communication systems

Random medium access control (MAC) plays a critical role in OFDMA wireless networks to support services with bursty traffic. However, the existing OFDMA random access protocols suffer from low efficiency due to the constraints in half-duplex communications. In this paper, the capability of full-duplex communications is leveraged to propose novel mechanisms such as full duplex carrier sensing, c...

Modeling Multiple–Vehicle Property Damage Collisions in Urban Signalized Intersections

Development of disaggregate models for estimating different property damage collision type frequencies in urban intersections has rarely been studied, particularly in Iran. It seems very little research work being implemented for studying the effect factors on collision type frequency at intersections. The main objective of this paper is to develop suitable statistical models to predict types o...

Optimization of Transmission Strategies for Opportunistic Access in Cognitive Radio Networks

Cognitive radio is a promising technology to mitigate spectrum shortage in wireless communications. It enables secondary users (SUs) to opportunistically access low-occupancy primary spectral bands as long as the primary user (PU) access is protected. Such a protection requirement is particularly challenging for multiple SUs over a potentially wide geographical area. In this paper, we study the...

Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) for Robust Ad hoc Vehicle Communication Networks

This paper proposes a novel robust and self-organizing architecture for mobile ad hoc networks. The proposed architecture, space division multiple access (SDMA), relies on user position information and provides users access to the communication channel based on their spatial locations. SDMA divides the geographical space, where the users are located, into smaller spaces. The key element of the ...
